Jayne Penn

   Jayne Penn has been named the next head coach of the Fairfield Prep Cross Country team. Penn, an English Teacher at Fairfield Prep, was a decorated runner at both Hillhouse High School and Georgetown University.
 
    Penn became the first freshman at Hillhouse to win an event at the State Open, taking first place in the 800-meter race championship. Penn set the Connecticut Indoor State 600-meter record and maintained it throughout her high school career, while also earning All- American honors her freshman year on the 1600m distance medley relay. Penn was named the New Haven Register MVP both her junior and senior years of high school and also earned All-Area, All-SCC, and All-New England honors all four years of high school. Penn served as varsity Cross Country and Track captain both her junior and senior years

    After graduating from Hillhouse, Penn attended Georgetown University, where she transitioned into a long sprints/middle distance runner. While there, Penn earned All-Big East and ECAC all four years as a member of numerous track relay teams. Penn also qualified for the Eastern Regional Championships all four years at Georgetown.
           
     After graduating Georgetown, Penn started her professional coaching career at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Penn was an assistant cross country and track coach for three seasons. While there, Penn was primarily responsible for strength and conditioning training and eventually took over the middle distance program, leading the program to Conference wins and individual qualifications for the Regional Championships.

    Penn started coaching cross country at Fairfield Prep this past fall season. As an assistant coach, she worked primarily with the freshmen team leading them to a 2nd place team finish at the Jesuit meet in NYC and a 3rd place team finish at the freshman races at the SCC Championships.
