Tom Curran

Tom Curran is in his 11th year at Fairfield Prep and his 7th as Director of Athletics. Curran spent 3 years as Assistant Athletic Director and 3 years as a Prep coach prior to joining the athletic office. Curran was the Head Varsity tennis coach during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, leading the program to an SCC Championship and a CIAC Class LL Runner up in 2010.  Curran was the Head Freshman Basketball coach for the 2011 season and an assistant Varsity and JV basketball coach during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
 
As Director of Athletics, Curran has presided over 9 CIAC State Championships, 13 CIAC State Runner-up's and 30 SCC Championships. In addition, Curran has overseen two expansions to the Lavery Fitness Center, founded the Fairfield Prep Football Camp, Northeast Jesuit Rugby Tournament and unveiled an athletic specific website for Prep; JESUITpride.com. In addition, Curran worked with the VP of Advancement to create the "friends of" program which allows for sport specific giving to Prep athletic teams. Other initiatives out of the athletic office include the implementation of Hudl performance analysis technology, Teambuildr online strength and conditioning software, the "Fairfield Prep Athletics" YouTube Channel which offers live streaming of Prep home games, the Fairfield Prep Record Book, the annual “Incoming Freshman Parents and Students Athletic Orientation” and the “Fairfield Prep Coaches Retreat” for coaches who are not employed as teachers at the school.

Over the past 6 years, Curran has worked closely with Fairfield University to ensure smooth transitions and guidelines for Prep's programs to exist and utilize newly renovated facilities such as Rafferty Stadium, Alumni Diamond, Walsh Athletic Center, Recreation Complex and Barlow Field. Curran also worked to move the Crew program to Captains Cove in Bridgeport from Beacon Point Marina in Shelton, allowing for a shorter commute time to practice.
 
During his time as Athletic Director Curran has hired new varsity Head Coaches for: Football, Soccer, Cross Country, Basketball, Lacrosse, Wrestling, Sailing and Tennis. Curran has also worked to partner Fairfield Prep with Select Physical Therapy for Athletic Training and KMK Training for strength and conditioning.
 
Under Curran's leadership Fairfield Prep has hosted several key high school events including the SCC Lacrosse Semi-Finals (2016), FCIAC Basketball Championship (2017), SCC Wrestling Championships (2018), and the CIAC Lacrosse Semi-Finals (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016).
 
Prior to joining Fairfield Prep Curran was a tennis instructor at Silver Spring Country Club in Ridgefield, CT. Curran graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2009 with a BA in Sociology. Curran was a two year captain of the tennis team and named All-Northeast Conference (NEC) for four straight years. Curran helped lead the Bobcats to an NEC Championship in 2006 and a spot in the NCAA Division 1 tournament at Stanford University. A 2005 Fairfield Prep graduate, Curran was a captain on both the tennis and basketball teams and helped lead the tennis team to the CIAC Class LL State Championship in 2002 and 2003. Curran and doubles partner August Vorvis captured the CIAC Class LL Doubles Championship in 2002 and 2003 as well as the State Open Championship and New England Championship in 2003.
