The Fairfield Prep swimming and diving team won the school's 19th SCC Championship Wednesday night at SCSU pool, scoring 1215 points. In second place was Hamden HS with 765 points. The Jesuits won 8 events on the night. In the 200 yard Medley Relay, Evan VanVelzor, Gabe Swarowsky, Owen Tharrington and Brandon Bonilla took first place while Tharrington also won the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard Backstroke. Timmy King took first place in both the 200 and the 500 yard freestyle and Jack Cunningham took first in the 50 yard freestyle. Bonilla, King, Cunningham and Rohan Thung took first in the 200 yard free relay and Tharrington, VanVelzor, King and Cunningham took first in the 400 yard free relay. Scoring important points for Prep in the diving competition was Gianmarco Barrato who took 3rd place in the league.  The Jesuits will move on to the CIAC Class L state championships meet next.
