Erik Spinka, co-Captain of the Fairfield Prep Crew Team, has committed to attend Princeton University in the fall as a member of the heavyweight crew team.   Spinka has been a four year member of the Prep crew program, has helped back to back Grand Finals at the NEIRA championships and hopes to bring the varsity 8 back again this spring. As the fastest high school rower in the country he holds several world records, placed first at Crash-B Rowing (2019) and Connecticut Indoors Rowing (2019), brought-home-the-gold at CanAmMex Regatta (2018) after training at the U19 National Selection Rowing Camp in Chula Vista, CA this past summer, and on the North East team at the Youth World Rowing Championship Regatta, Sarasota-Bradenton, FL, USA (2017). After crew practice, Spinka volunteers his community service at the Operation Hope Center and The Carlton in Fairfield, and XLR8 Urban Impact in Bridgeport.
