The Fairfield Prep track team has had a strong postseason and look will look to build on that success with the upcoming New England and National meets. In the CIAC Class LL Championships, the Jesuits finished 10th out of 22 teams. Darren Blount finished 3rd in the 55m dash, Jude Pastorak took 10th in the 600m run, Azaan Dawson took 2nd in the 1600m run and Joshua Samaras took 5th in the long jump. The highlight of the day came when Dawson, Blount, Joshua Bacon and Caleb Bolden won the 1600m Sprint Meter Medley by a tenth of a second as Dawson crossed the finish line. The Jesuits followed up the Class LL meet with a 9th place finish (out of 44 teams) at the State Open. Dawson and Blount advanced to the New England's (February 29th in Boston) with their performance and the SMR team of Blount, Dawson, Bacon and Tymaine Smith took second place, missing out on first by 1 second. That relay team will compete in the New Balance Nationals at the Armory in New York on March 13th.
