Fairfield Prep Rugby Captain Brice Muller has been chosen to represent the United States as an under-18 international this summer in Amsterdam. The Corendon Summer Tour will provide elite athletes from across the USA with the opportunity to compete in international competition and be assessed as they enter the high-performance pipeline that could lead to full representation for the USA Eagles Senior Team in future years. The tournament features u-18 teams from the USA, Canada, Belgium and the Netherlands.
 
Muller is a Co-Captain of Fairfield Prep Rugby and his strong play helped to lead Prep to a first CT Rugby State Championship, beating perennial powerhouse Greenwich Rugby 33-28 on a last minute score. Muller started rugby his sophomore year and was quickly identified as a player with incredible potential, representing Prep with the Junior Jacks, an Academy team of the professional New England Freejacks, and representing the State of Connecticut as an All-Star. Muller was invited to identification trials and eventually to the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista CA to tryout for the u-18 team.
 
Fairfield Prep Head Coach Kevin Kery is delighted for Muller and offered high praise for Muller's contribution to Prep Rugby. Coach Kery remarked, "Brice has been an enormous part of building our program and leading to Prep Rugby's ultimate success over the past three years.  His contributions on the field culminate in a cool, confident, and determined player.  But it is his leadership off the field that has been more important and much harder to quantify.  Brice is the consummate leader, working daily to better his craft and elevate his teammates, and I am confident that it this character that will make him a perfect match for the United States Eagles (u-18).  Representing your country is the highest honor that a rugby player can earn, and Fairfield Prep rugby is beaming with pride that Brice has earned this opportunity.  We will be watching his tour closely, thankful for everything that he has given to our school and the Connecticut Rugby community.   
 
Muller is excited for the tournament and departed for Amsterdam for a one-week training camp beginning on July 1^st. His first game will be against Belgium on July 6^th.  Said Muller "Ever since I found about the U-18 national team, it's been one of my biggest goals. Now that I've made it, I'm extremely excited for everything the tour has to offer. Seeing new countries, meeting new people and most of all representing my country. It's amazing to me all of the opportunities that comes with playing this sport and I'm forever grateful for trying it out. If it weren't for my coaches and teammates who pushed me to become better there's no doubt I wouldn't be where I am today. I'm also grateful for Fairfield Prep and the Fairfield Prep rugby community for teaching me to love the game and play it the right way"
 
After the Corendon Summer Tour, Muller will enter Babson College where he will join a rugby program coming off a recent 7s Rugby Championship in National Collegiate Rugby play.
